News for the Week of August 29, 2016

Hello Families!!!

It was a Fantastic week!!! As you can see from the photos, a lot of learning was happening and your children had a wonderful transition back to our school routine!!! Yay kiddos!!!

Slight change in schedule was that we did not get to swim.  The school is waiting to get a pump replaced.  As soon as it is up and running we will swim on Monday, Wednesday and Friday after lunch as long as the weather stays hot.

Please check your student logs each day, I cannot stress the importance enough.  This week some items were sent home in the logs, Donation Letter for supplies for our room, and those of you with IEPs coming up, will find the invitations and excusal forms, as well as Parent Input Letter and Reinforcement Inventories there.  Please indicate your availability for the meetings, sign and return as soon as possible and respond to the input and inventories by the date indicated so that your thoughts are included in planning new goals for your child's IEP.

Some of you have asked if your child has the same staff working 1:1 with your child this year.  In order to provide the optimal opportunities for your child to generalize the skills they are learning, they need to work on those skills with a variety of people, in various settings, using different phrasing, and with a variety of materials.  With that said, I have devised with our school BCBA, Cheri, and my classroom RBT, Elizabeth, a system of staff rotation.  Your children work for half of the day with one aide and then work with a different aide in the second half of the day.  We also have had some staff leave over the summer and new staff join us.  All is going well and the children are transitioning with the changes.  I am very excited about our progress!

Homework: reminder that homework is due on Fridays.

Lastly: This Wednesday, 8-31, is a minimum day and the children will be dismissed at 12 noon.

Have a blessed weekend!
