News for the Week of February 20, 2017

Hello Families!

Here is a brief look at this week:

No School Monday in observance of Presidents Day.

Tuesday, 2-21, field trip to Jumping Jacks in San Dimas, thank you families for sending permission slips and money on time, all of our students are going!!!Please make sure your child is wearing socks for the jumpers.

Wednesday 2-22, is a minimum day and children are dismissed at 12 noon.

Homework is as follows, try to increase reading time each day by an additional 5 minutes and ask 3 "wh" questions, who, what, where, about the story.  Write down the questions you asked and your child's response, did they point to the answer or verbalize it?

Instead of a coloring page, try modeling simple drawings of a house or a stick person.  Draw one elemental shape at a time and have your child "copy" you on his or her paper.  Talk about the shapes, use prepositions and adjectives, "the triangle is on top of the square" "the triangle is small, the square is big" and so forth.

And since we've had a lot of rain it is even more important to take advantage of time outside when the weather is nice...all outdoor activities will count, include time that your child plays on jungle gyms, swings, scooters, and yes, keep up on playing catch together! Record day and minutes of participation.

I will be sending home a new reading log on Tuesday, please write physical activity on the back and staple all drawings to the log to be turned in next Monday February 27.

Here are some pictures of recent learning, behavior management visuals and our Chinese New Year Rooster paintings!

(this is a self monitoring behavior system)

(language/communication with an iPad, and calendar math)

There are only 3.5 months of the regular school year left, keep up the good work families!

Have a blessed week!
