Hello Families,
We are at the half way mark on summer school. The children are enjoying their change in schedule with the minimum days and our swim days on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Everyone has done a great job with the new transitions and activities!
Wednesday our field trip to the park was really fun and our speech and APE coach joined us to work on generalizing skills in the community!
Just a reminder that next week Wednesday, July 4th, is a holiday and there will be no school that day. We will be in session the other 4 days next week.
I will post again at the end of summer school with information regarding the fall semester!
Thank you and many blessings to you and your family!
Donna

Hello Families,
Yes this is it! The last week of the regular school year.
This week on Wednesday June 6, we have our end of the year awards ceremony. Our class is slotted for 12noon-12:45. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. You are free to take your child home afterward if you wish. It is a regular dismissal time of 2pm.
Thursday, June 7, is a minimum day and the last day of school.
There will be no school Friday June 8th thru June 17th.
Summer school is Monday June 18 thru July 13. Every day is short day schedule. School begins at 8am and ends at 12 noon.
Look through your child's backpack and communication log for more details on things that they will need for swimming.
There is no homework over the summer. I will be thinking about homework for the fall semester.
Thank you all for a wonderful year! Hope to see you Wednesday for our awards ceremony!
Blessings,
Donna :)

News for the Week of April 23, 2018
Hello Families,
Our time is flying! There are only 7 weeks of school left of the regular school year! Please check your child's backpack and communication logs for important information and updates on schedules and special events.
Last week I sent home permission slips for our field trip to the Chino Youth Museum coming up on Thursday May 3rd. Please sign, date and return those permission slips with $4 for your child's admission into the museum, as soon as possible.
We will be going to Amy's Farm in Chino Tuesday, May 29 the day after Memorial Day weekend. (Permission slips will be sent home later in May).
State testing is also in May. Only a couple of the students in my class are going to be testing due to grade level. I will notify those individually. If you have not been contacted then your child is not testing. Even if your child is not testing, please continue to help your child excel in school by getting enough sleep and eating a healthy diet and keep up with attendance.
Please check your child's clothing size...Many of our students have had a growth spurt and we are finding that the spare clothes in their cubbies are too small. We will be sending the small clothing home for a trade out. Please keep in mind the change in the weather as well.
Turn taking, sharing, cooperative play, counting, learning colors....all happening in one activity!
In conclusion, this week's menu is cycle 4. Details are listed under the School Menu Cycles label.
Thank you and have a blessed week!

I want to share some pictures from the previous week's learning and fun!

News for the Weeks of March 19 and 26, 2018
Hello Families,
New week and new and last grading period for the regular school year! Can you believe this year is almost gone! The next two weeks will be working on the new benchmarks for the kiddos IEP goals.
Our minimum day falls on Friday 3-30 as it is the last day before Spring Break. The break is only one week from 3-31 thru 4-8, school resumes on Monday 4-9.
Please send in any odd materials you can for the student art pieces, see last blog post for details.
This week's menu is cycle 5, see the school menus cycle label for details.
Please remember to adhere to school policy with regard to attendance and illness and communicate with the school office as well as myself that your child will be missing school and the reason for the absence.
I am asking for any donations no matter how small, for the usual items of facial tissues, baby wipes, bleach wipes for the whole classroom to use, not just for your child. This year the yucky germs have really taken a toll on our peeps big and little, we are doing our best to keep things in the room clean and sanitized.
Last reminder, please do not send your child to school with anything that is too precious and don't want damaged or lost. Firstly I do not have storage space to keep the items/toys stowed away and I have had students in the classroom who do not understand why some toys are not being shared, and it has created a major distraction and loss of instructional time as well as problems with student behavior. I as well as my staff cannot be responsible for your child's extraneous personal items.
As always, thank you to you all for your support!
It is my privilege to be your child's teacher, many blessings to you all.
Friday 3-16, we made green pancakes!
I have found a bin of pinto beans to not only be entertaining by very calming for many of the students!
Have a fun and a blessed week!
Donna

News for the Weeks of 2-26, 3-5 and this Week March 12, 2018
Hello Families,
Thursday 3-1, our kiddos and staff had a bopping hopping time at Jumping Jacks in Rancho Cucamonga...
Read Across America Day, Friday 3-2, was super fun, we had many of Dr. Seuss's books available to read and listen to on CD as well as Horton Hears a Who on DVD...a couple of students and staff got into it and even dressed up, (not required)! We did counting math and color identification activities from 10 Apples Up On Top, and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, perspectively.
There were so many themes for February that we couldn't get them all done so the Dental Hygiene portion of our learning started us off in March as the children made Happy/Sad Teeth that we laminated and punched holes in the perimeter to "floss" the tooth....
A few announcements went home last week, one was a reminder of Friday's staff training day, a pink sheet went home to address summer school attendance, please fill out and return your intent to participate in summer school. All of the students in my class have qualified for Extended School Year, ESY, and it is included in your child's IEP. Dates and hours of summer school are indicated on the pink sheet. Call our school office if you have any questions or conflicts with your summer plans.
Art Supplies Request:
About a month ago I sent home a letter from another teacher, Ms. Cindy Bowers, making a request for art supplies for our students who are making art pieces for the talent show coming up in April. If you have any of the items highlighted in yellow, please send them with your child to class this week...
They are not your typical items and our pieces for the show will be quite unique :)
I hope the time change on Saturday, springing one hour forward, brings everyone some cheer as Spring is just around the corner!
We have three full weeks of school and then Spring Break!
A friendly reminder, please check your child's backpack and communication log daily, please always pack spare clothes, and underwear or diapers and wipes.
This week's menu is Cycle 4.
And as always if you have questions or just need to touch base with me, please call or text me and I will get back to you as soon as I can :)
Have a blessed week!
Donna

making valentine cards
Last week we had so much going on with Valentines and Chinese New Year art and cultural celebration on Friday! Here are some pictures of our hard work:
Science! We ran experiments across two days with 2 types of candy and two different bowls of water, one hot and one cold. Data was collected every 15 minutes to document change in the status of the candies! Guess what dissolved first and most completely in what temperature of water!
Chinese New Year this year is the year of the Earth Dog, Earth being the element and dog the animal for the year. Our kiddos had fun making the dogs for our windows along with red lanterns and on Friday we had a Chinese pot luck and cooked vegetable fried rice in class!

Lots and lots of learning goes on all day, every day! Our kiddos work incredibly hard and I'm so thrilled to be their teacher!!!
Lastly:
This week's menu is Cycle 1.
There is no school on Friday, 2-23, as it is a staff professional development day.
Next week is a full week, however Wednesday 2-28-18 is a minimum day, children are dismissed at 12 noon. And Friday 3-2-18 is Read Across America Day to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. We will be doing some fun crafts and lots of reading that day!
