News for the Week of January 29, 2018

Hello Families,

This week in a nutshell:

This Wednesday, 1-31, is a minimum day, children are dismissed at 12 noon.

This week's menu is Cycle 4, please see the school menus cycle label for details.

February 14 is Valentine's Day and I will be sending home a list of children's first names for those families who wish to make Valentines for their friends.

February 16 is Chinese New Year...

My thoughts are to celebrate Valentine's and Chinese New Year on Friday 16th.  If families wish to participate with candy, cookies, cupcakes etc, please NO NUTS or PEANUTS of any kind.  We will have a cooking day that Friday to make stir fried rice and make crafts.  I will provide the ingredients for the cooking and the craft.

Thank you to the families who recently donated items that are always needed for the classroom.

A friendly reminder to always check your child's backpack and communication log each day....important stuff in there :)  Please write in that log if you need to let us know of any news concerning your child.  If it is urgent and needs a more immediate response, please call or text me.

As always it is my pleasure and privilege to be your child's teacher, THANK YOU!

Have a blessed week!

Donna :)

News for the weeks of January 15 and 22, 2018

Hello Families,

Thank you for your patience in waiting for this week's update.  I have been in the midst of several program updates and learning how to navigate them, even teachers are constantly learning!

Last week I sent home a letter issued by our Vice President, with guidelines for when to keep your child home when they are sick.  Here is a digital copy for your convenience:

(My apologies for the quality as the blog site is not allowing me to upload a PDF version, only jpgs)Thank goodness students returned after the break healthy, let's do our best to keep them healthy this flu season.

This week's menu in the cafeteria is cycle 2.  A full description of all 6 menus is available to view under the School Menu Cycles label.

Here are some pictures of the students from last week's reading and writing learning:

Next week is a normal full week of school and the menu cycle will be cycle 3.

As always if you have anything you wish to discuss, please text me and we can carve out a time to meet in person or by phone.

Thank you so much and have a blessed week!

Donna :)

News for the Week of January 8, 2018

Happy New Year Families!

Firstly I want to share some photos of the learning going on in the classroom from December.....

Writing.....

TouchMath....

Holiday Crafts...

OT Services...

Enjoying Gifts From Santa....

We had a great end of 2017!

Welcome 2018!

Winter months are cold and often rainy...please dress your children in layers and make sure clothes are labeled as well as umbrellas, hats and mittens.

This month we have only one holiday...next Monday 1-15-18 there is no school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

This week's menu cycle is cycle #1.

Please keep in touch with me via email, and texts regarding your child's medications.  Even if your child does not receive medication at school, any change or addition of medication affects behavior as well as many physical symptoms.  We need to be up to date so that we can track behavior accurately and give you appropriate feedback about your child.

Please continue to check your child's communication log and backpack each day, for clothing, diapers, notices, invitations etc.

Lastly, a Big Thank You to the Lazcano family for all the donations to the classroom, from cleaning products, baby wipes, educational toys and books, your generosity is overwhelming!  Our students and staff appreciate you very much!

Have a blessed week!

Donna :)
